All-on-4® Dental Implants

All-on-4® Provide the Benefits of Dental Implants with Less Recovery Time

For patients who need to replace multiple teeth, Dr. Couvelis provides All-on-4® dental implants in Chicago, anchoring restorations with fewer posts.

All-on-4® dental implants, sometimes referred to as “same-day implants,” can provide patients who are missing a large number of front-facing teeth with an immediate restoration to improve oral health, functionality, and aesthetics in less time than traditional implants.

What Makes All-on-4® Dental Implants Different?

Traditional dental implants may require six or more implants and a three to six month healing period after placement. Although you may receive a temporary restoration during the healing period, it can take up to six months before the final restoration is placed.

All-on-4® dental implants allow your dental implants and restorations to be placed on the same day so that you can enjoy the benefits of implant-supported restorations immediately. While there is still a healing period, it is significantly shorter than the healing period of traditional implants.

Candidacy for All-on-4® Dental Implants

If you are missing a large number of front-facing teeth, you may be a candidate for All-on-4® dental implants. You may also be a candidate if several of your teeth are severely damaged, or if you currently wear a restoration such as a traditional denture.

As with traditional implants, you must have ample bone tissue to support All-on-4® implants. If you do not have sufficient bone tissue, you may require a bone graft or a sinus lift. Any underlying oral health problems such as gum disease should be treated prior to the placement of your All-on-4® implants.

You should be in good health overall, and we recommend that patients quit smoking to heal and achieve osseointegration more quickly, and to improve general oral health.

All-on-4® Placement Procedure

You will have a consultation with Dr. Couvelis prior to your treatment. He will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to rule out any underlying conditions and determine whether you are a candidate for All-on-4® implants. Together, you will discuss your lifestyle and goals for treatment to ensure that this is the right procedure for you.

If a bone graft or sinus lift is required, the doctor will refer you to an oral surgeon. If you have severely decayed teeth that require extraction, this can be completed at the same time as the dental implant placement.

“All-on-4® implants can provide patients with immediate restorations to improve oral health, functionality, and aesthetics in less time than traditional implants.”

You will be sedated for your surgery, and then, using the All-on-4® surgical guide, Dr. Couvelis will align your implants in the optimal position. Following surgery, a restoration will be affixed to your implants.

Over the next six to eight weeks, your gums and jawbone will heal and your implants will fuse with the jawbone. As the gums and jawbone heal, there may be slight movement of the implants. Once you have completely healed, you will return to the office to be fitted for a permanent restoration that will accommodate the changes in your gums, jawbone, and implant position.

Benefits of All-on-4® Dental Implants

All-on-4® dental implants provide the same oral health benefits of dental implants in preventing jawbone degeneration. Unlike traditional implants, All-on-4® implants and your implant-supported restoration can be placed on the same day, and they require a significantly shorter healing period.

When you leave our office after receiving your All-on-4® dental implants and initial restorations, you will have a rejuvenated new smile.
